SD Eibar join Association of Women's Football Clubs

The club has joined the association, which currently boasts 27 members

SD Eibar, along with seven other clubs (RC Deportivo, Sevilla FC, Málaga CF, Cádiz CF, CA Osasuna, Girona FC and CF Reus Deportiu), have become members of the Association of Women's Football Clubs, an organisation which was founded in 2015 with the aim of looking after the development and interests of the female game. The project to develop the women's game in Spain has been strengthened with the naming of Iberdrola as the main sponsor of the Women's First Division.

The association currently boasts 27 member clubs, who compete in the top two national leagues and the regional divisions. In the words of Pedro Malabia, the president of the association and the head of women's football at LaLiga, "amongst other objectives, the association seeks to promote, develop, organise and encourage any kind of activity that contributes to the development and promotion of the women's game".

SD Eibar were keen not to miss out on the opportunity of joining this association, as the club, through its Foundation, looks to continue developing and strengthening all aspects of women's football, with the most recent examples of these efforts being the staging of a friendly fixture against CD Tacón at Ipurua and the live coverage of SD Eibar Women's first-team fixtures on the club's official media channels.
