Riesgo: I'm expecting an open game against La Real

The Eibar goalkeeper insisted that, "every game against La Real is special for me"

Speaking today ahead of Saturday's clash against Real Sociedad at Ipurua (13:00 CET), SD Eibar goalkeeper Asier Riesgo stated that he expecting, "an open encounter".

The Armeros' shotstopper, who enjoyed a six-year spell at Real Sociedad, declared that, "for me, every game against La Real is special".

"It'll be a tough game and there'll be a great atmosphere. They've got some very good players, whilst we play high-intensity football. It'll be a difficult match and all the more so with it being a derby. We hope to win and put in a good display". When asked about his hopes for the game and a prediction, Riesgo expressed his desire that the team, "play with a lot of intensity and win the game", before admitting, "I don't care about the result".

"The fans aren't used to going to watch the football at that time of the day, but with it being a Saturday, there's sure to be a good atmosphere. The town and the stands will be packed and it'll be a special game. The fact that it's at a strange time won't make much difference".

"They'll come here full of confidence and will be looking to claim victory after yesterday's 4-1 triumph. On this occasion, they come into the game on the back of a win and that means that they'll be relaxed and confident. It's up to us to play our game, put the intensity in and defend well".

"Things worked out well for them yesterday. They scored right at the start of the game and then got the penalty and almost immediately they were on course for a win. They've got some real quality up top, but we've been defending well and we must continue on in this same vein, put in a good performance and try to win it".

In Riesgo's eyes, the side's display on Tuesday against Málaga was "a good one, overall. We enjoyed lots of possession and were the better side, but their goal just before the break really hurt us. Málaga weren't looking great and the goal gave them a real boost. In the second half it was a more even affair, they were spurred on and in one move the game swung in their favour".

"The team is doing well and we really competed. That bodes very well and we gave a good account of ourselves. We need to try to cut out these odd mistakes which are what make the games go for or against you. At Málaga, perhaps at times when we had possession, we failed to finish off our moves. Looking back on the last few games, in the last match we were guilty of pushing for the win and we ultimately lost the game. We weren't able to hold on when they began to put us under increased pressure. We tried to win the game, but this time round we ended up losing".
