Nano This is an important step for me and I want to prove my worth

The Canary Islander was officially unveiled as an Eibar player after signing a five-year deal

Speaking at his unveiling after having signed a five-year deal, Alexander Mesa 'Nano' defined the move as "an important step" in his career, before expressing a desire to prove his worth.

Nano today joined his teammates in his first training session at Atxabalpe, before being unveiled Ipurua.

"Eibar went out to get me right from the off, and that's something you've got to take into account. I've been wanting to make the step up and come here right from the first moment that the club spoke to my agents and me. I'm very happy and hope to make a big contribution".

"I'm very hard working, I put people under great pressure, look to peel away from defenders and I'm always aware as to where the ball is. For me, this move represents an important step and I'm going to have to work hard to make it work. I'm looking forward to proving my worth and can't wait to show the club and the fans that they haven't made a mistake in bringing me here".

"I felt really good in the first training session. My teammates and the coaching staff have given me a really warm welcome. I'm happy. It's a very good club, my teammates are fantastic and I recognise that".

"It'll probably be tough being away from Tenerife, because I've been there all my life, but I wanted to make the step up. Right from the outset I wanted to make the step up and prove my worth here. I'm happy and I hope to make a contribution and be playing as soon as possible".

SD Eibar's director of football, Fran Garagarza described the negotiations to bring the striker to the club as having been "lengthy and very tough". Garagarza explained that, "He's a signing for the long term, we've got him on a five-year deal. He's one for the future. I think that he represents one for the present and the future of the club".

"It's not easy to find young goalscorers. He's a different type of forward and is different to all of the other strikers we've already got here. He'll have to take steps forward and he doesn't need to be performing at a high level immediately, there's a whole process involved. We're happy to have signed him and to have clinched a deal that we wanted to get done".

"He's very mobile, powerful and is good at finding spaces. It was important for us to add this sort of player to the squad. He's shown that he's got the ability to score goals, it's no mean feat to score 14 goals in the Second Division when you're 21 years old. Given the lad's age, what's expected of him in the future, his potential and the length of the contract, by no means is the transfer fee over the top. We won't be mentioning any figures, but obviously there was a fee involved".

President, Amaia Gorostiza spoke to welcome the latest addition of the Eibar squad. "I hope that it takes you next to no time to feel at home here".

"With a day and a half to go until the transfer window closes, our technical team continues to work extremely hard to put the finishing touches to a squad that's albeit now complete and we hope that we've got a team with which we'll be able to achieve our goals".
