Mendilibar: We're not going to go changing everything just because of one poor performance

The squad list named by the Eibar boss features all of the 19 available players

Speaking today in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's clash against CD Leganés (kick-off 21:00), José Luis Mendilibar insisted, "We're not going to go changing everything just because of one poor performance", as he reflected on last Saturday's 3-0 away defeat at the hands of Sevilla FC.

The Eibar coach has named all of the 19 players currently available to him, with Yoel, Fran Rico, Pedro León and Iván Alejo all missing out through injury. Meanwhile, the quartet are joined on the sidelines by Iván Ramis, who has failed in his race to be fit after picking up a knock to his right calf.

"We've trained well this week after being fully aware that the performance in Seville wasn't a good one.   These things happen.    We weren't clear enough in our ideas to create the openings.  After going 1-0 down, it was a case of trying to get back into the game and not managing to do so. It's a long old season and we'll have our good and bad days along the way. It's better that poor displays like that come against sides like Sevilla".

When quizzed about his team's shyness in front of goal, with the Armeros having netted once in their first three outings, he stated that "Ultimately, you score goals by creating chances, if you create the chances, you'll end up getting the goals. In Seville we weren't lacking an attacking threat, the problem was that we failed to convert our chances.  The goals come when you create the chances".

In reference to tomorrow's opponents, Mendilibar noted that "They've stepped things up this season and have gone out and invested in the squad.  They've aimed to put together a squad that belongs in Primera División, with the hope of remaining in the top flight for a long time to come".    "We'll go out and play our own game.  We can't go thinking about them and must focus solely on ourselves".
