Last-gasp winner keeps good run going

Ramis's towering 94th-minute header handed the Armeros the points

A thumping Iván Ramis header in the dying embers of tonight's game saw SD Eibar overcome CD Leganés, as the visitors extended an excellent run which has seen them collect 27 of the last available 36 points (W8, D3, L1 in their last 12 outings) and temporarily move them up into sixth.

As was expected, the two teams served up a pretty even contest in which the midfield battle dominated proceedings as both sets of players put in plenty of effort. The opening 45 minutes barely yielded any clear-cut chances, although the Armeros certainly offered a more persistent threat than the hosts.

However, after the interval, José Luis Mendiliar's charges dominated possession and carved out several goalscoring opportunities, with the best of the chances falling to Charles, Kike García and Takashi Inui, who were all unable to get the better of Iván Cuéllar.

Just as the game was almost up, Ramis met Joan Jordán's inviting corner kick and headed past the Leganés custodian to hand Eibar a well-deserved three points.
