Ipurua hosts event on work of academies in team sports

Around 100 attendees enjoyed some top-level presentations

Ipurua's North Stand hosted the session entitled Academy Work in Team Sports: Academy Models, an event organised by the SD Eibar Foundation along with the Basque School for Sport and the Basque government, with the collaboration of the Basque Football Federation and the Basque Basketball Federation.

Jon Redondo, the head of youth and sport at the Basque government, was tasked with giving the opening address at an event in which the participants were treated to presentations delivered by representatives from clubs including FC Barcelona, Deportivo Alavés, Baskonia and Joventut de Badalona.

The aim of the day was to offer ad-hoc training against a context in which four Basque teams finished amongst the top 10 in the LaLiga standings last term.

The Basque Country is a small region with a population of 2.5m inhabitants. It is nevertheless capable of exporting not only culture, gastronomy and industry but also sporting knowledge and talent and boasts some of the leading academies throughout Europe.
