Eibar Women return home from Navarre with a point on a day when they deserved more

The Armeras played out a 1-1 stalemate with Berriozar

SD Eibar Women picked up an away point after drawing 1-1 at Berriozar, with Ainhoa Alonso on target for the Armeras.

In stark contrast to the start they made a week ago at Unbe, the Armeras came out all guns blazing from the off here. Although it was Eibar who had started the better, with eight minutes on the clock, a long-range effort from the hosts struck the crossbar and crept over the line.

The Armeras continued to boss proceedings, whilst the home side were content to launch long balls forward.

The visitors' goal came following an Iratxe corner, which Sara Tazo nodded on to Alonso, who made no mistake as she fired home into the far corner. The Armeras laid siege to the hosts' goal in the closing stages of the first half but their pressure failed to reap any rewards.

The second period followed the same script as the opening 45 minutes. Olatz Areitio headed over from a corner and Izarra, who was making her debut, narrowly failed to connect with a fine cross which flashed across the six-yard box.

The home side continued to pump long balls forward, which an assured Iratxe Moreno had no problems in gathering in. In the final minutes, the Armeras began to send balls into the box towards captain Alonso, but no winner was forthcoming.
