Eibar Women open Second Division campaign in style
The Armeras ran out 3-2 away winners over San Ignacio
Eibar Women began their league season with an eye-catching away victory over a San Ignacio side who last term finished runners-up in Group 2 of the Second Division and contested the end-of-season play-offs for promotion to the top flight.
The hosts came flying out of the blocks and forged ahead in the 14th minute. However, Eibar fought back and began to boss proceedings, with Irantzu Ibarrola and Sara Tazo both enjoying opportunities to have drawn the visitors level, only to be frustrated by
fine saves from the hosts' goalie.
After the interval, the Bilbao-based outfit's all-action start soon petered out and Eibar once again got on the front foot. Subsequent strikes from Irantzu, Nerea Gantxegi and Idoia Agirre put the visitors 3-1 to the good.
In injury time, the home side converted a spot-kick to round off the scoring as Eibar secured a 3-2 away victory, a result which represents an encouraging start to the campaign for the Armeras.
