Eibar slip up in the derby despite strong performance

The Armeras lose their first derby at Ipurua to Real Sociedad, with Franssi scoring a brace

Eibar failed to pick up points in their first derby at Ipurua against Real Sociedad. The Armeras lost 0-2 with a brace from Franssi, despite playing a complete game and ensuring things were more than difficult for the San Sebastian-based side.

The first half of the match, despite the early goal by Real Sociedad (min. 8), was dominated by the Armeras, who were intent in pressing high and going all out against Real Sociedad to equalize.ç

In the 18th minute, Camino had one of the clearest chances for the home side, but the ball went wide to the left of the goal. Eibar continued to press and Camino came close again. The Cantabrian, who played a very complete game, was not the only one to have chances, but Eibar were unable to find the net.

The Armeras came out with everything today, eager to continue the good run they are competing with on the road. Despite the scoreline, they were positive and showed themselves to be much stronger and more capable of creating danger than they were at Zubieta at the start of the season.

In the second half, and even in the last few minutes of the game, Eibar continued to press in the opposition's area and try to score a goal. Sierra finished off a pass from Arene in the 72nd minute and, in stoppage time, Andrea Álvarez also came close.

The Armeras dominated much of the game and unsettled the txuri-urdin continuously. Real's two goals prevented Eibar from picking up points in their first derby at home. A very complete game by the Armeras, with the bad luck of not having been able to top it off with the result.

Next week, they will face Levante Las Planas in Barcelona, on Saturday, February 10 at 12:00.
