Eibar come from behind to secure 2-1 away triumph over Las Palmas

The Armeros begin the year with another three points on the road

Eibar's fine run of form continued as the Armeros saw off Las Palmas in their first outing of the new year thanks to a stirring comeback. Despite an even start to proceedings, it was the hosts who drew first blood, only for the visitors to overturn the scoreline, courtesy of strikes from debutant Fabián Orellana, who opened his account for the club immediately after entering the fray, and a Sergi Enrich header.

The two sides served up a very even opening 45 minutes, in which Eibar were first to pose a threat. In the opening minutes, Ander Capa's fine cross was nodded goalwards by Takashi Inui, but Leandro Chichizola was on hand to palm his effort behind. As the game wore on, the home side began to get a grip on proceedings, without fashioning any clear-cut openings.

However, with 30 minutes on the clock, Anaitz Arbilla brought down Hernán Toledo in the area and the referee didn't think twice before pointing to the spot. Jonathan Viera made no mistake as he handed the Canary Islanders the lead and there was no change to the scoreline up until the break.

After the restart, Eibar began to boss possession as they looked to camp themselves in the home side's half. However, a series of stray passes prevented them from making their dominance tell. During the second period, José Luis Mendilibar turned to his bench, introducing an attacker who would prove to be one of the game's key men. Making his debut for the Armeros, Orellana restored parity with virtually his first touch, just seconds after entering the action, with the Chilean tapping home after Charles had squared a free-kick delivery back across the six-yard box.

Practically straight after having hauled themselves level, Eibar went on to score their second of the evening. Enrich headed home an inch-perfect cross from Cote to complete a quickfire comeback and hand Eibar the spoils following a sensational five-minute turnaround.
