Adrián: Last season we earned people's respect and we have to go out and do the same again this year

The SD Eibar midfielder addressed the media at the club's training ground

Yesterday saw Adrián González speak to the media at Atxabalpe, where the midfielder stated that the Armeros "are a good side", before insisting that, "last season we earned people's respect and we have to go out and do the same again this year".

Ahead of Saturday's clash against Valencia at Ipurua, Adrián recognised that, "it'll be tough, but we know all about Ipurua and what playing there can do for this team".

"It's the first home game of the season, and I imagine that the fans will be looking forward to coming to the ground and seeing the team this season. We're up for the game because I don't think we deserved to lose in A Coruña and we want to pick up our first three points as soon as possible".

Reflecting on last Friday's reverse at Riazor, the Madrid-born midfielder offered the following assessment,"I think that overall we played well. We were solid and we didn't allow them space between our lines and we applied good pressure. Perhaps we were a little bit short in attack".

"We had the game under control, we got ourselves in front and I think that us losing the game was more down to our mistakes rather than Depor deserving to win it. We have to learn from that and go out and win on Saturday, it's a good opportunity for us and I'm sure that we'll send our fans home happy".

Adrián went on to identify what he considers to be the key areas to the game against the Valencians, "Above all, the concentration levels, which is where we fell down towards the end of the game in A Coruña", before stressing the importance that the side "continues to go about things as we have been doing, which I believe is the right approach".

In terms of the Matchday 1 results throughout the division, Eibar's number 24 suggested that, "It's too early to judge any of the teams. The La Liga season has only just started and we still haven't had a good chance to see the teams, including those sides that got good results on the first matchday".

Speaking about his role within the side, Adrián declared that, "We saw last season that the coach placed his faith in me and I was a pretty important player for the team".

As for his personal targets for the current campaign, the 28-year-old is looking to, "improve on last season and if I can exceed the five goals I got, all the better. I'll be trying to help the team out as best I can. Last season was a good one for me and I've now got to build on that".
