2015-2017 Strategic Plan set to be completed by the end of the season

Over 100 people were involved in the development of the plan

SD Eibar's 2015-2017 Strategic Plan, which saw the involvement of 100 individuals from across various different fields, is set to be completed by the close of the current campaign.

Once the plan is concluded, the following step will be to roll out the Strategic Plan which has already been put together for the period running from 2017-2022 and will represent the third of its kind in the club's history.

The first-ever plan was drawn up in 2009 and was later revised and extended in 2012. The second edition was produced to coincide with the team's promotion to Primera and to mark the club's 75th anniversary.

The plan, which will come to an end once the current campaign is over and all of the changes and possible identified improvements have been introduced, was drawn up on the basis that SD Eibar is a professional football club but also a business boasting a significant economic and social impact.

The current Strategic Plan has represented a turning point, with SD Eibar using its over 75 years of experience and adopting an open-minded attitude to listen to the club's fan base in an effort to become a more modern, open and transparent institution, whilst not forgetting the club's history, essence and values.

This Plan was developed using a participative methodology, with more than 100 representatives from across all sectors of the fan base, the club and the city's population involved.

The ultimate aim of the Plan was to optimise the social and financial benefits generated by Eibar across the city and region.

In addition to the club's traditional values, which include humility, hard work, effort, team spirit, solidarity, sacrifice and desire for self-betterment, other traits have been added within the framework of the Strategic Plan: leadership/ambition, excellence, a strong brand image, transparency, democratic particitation, integrity and diversity.

Amongst the main improvements included as a part of the development of the Strategic Plan are:

  • Planning for the development of a new Training Ground to cater for the needs of the first team and the youth set-up.
  • The production of a report which quantifies the economic impact of Eibar as a top-flight club, including the benefits witnessed in the business, hospitality and local and regional service sectors.
  • Enhancing the club's transparency policy, particularly via the information contained within the 'Transparency Policy' section of the club's website.
  • Opening the stadium up to the city and region through the stadium tour and by making Ipurua into a potential tourist attraction.
  • Improved external communications relating to internal processes, the sale of matchday and season tickets, stadium access, security regulations, etc.
  • Rolling out a full online ticket purchasing and ticket release service.
  • Conducting a public survey to collect views about Ipurua's new East Stand amongst neighbours, groups, businesses and the general public.
  • Reduction in the height, cantilever span and number of rows of seats in the East Stand.
  • Contributing to the avoidance of parking spaces from being taken through the development of an underground car park beneath the East Stand featuring 60 parking places.
  • Promoting and making the creation of international supporters' groups easier as part of the club's internationalisation strategy.
  • Encouraging the use of the Basque language both internally and externally, carrying out a study of the current situation through a Basque Language Plan, which was conducted with the assistance of a specliast independent consultancy firm.
