The growth of Hugo García is one of the most recent examples of the work that SD Eibar develops from its youth academy to the first team. A process based on patience, daily effort, and continuous support, always respecting the maturation times.
The player from Cintruénigo plays for Eibar B, under the orders of Íñigo Pérez. However, he participated in the preseason with the first team and, in recent weeks, has been completing numerous training sessions with the group led by Beñat San José, progressively integrating into the dynamics of the first team.
This season he has taken his first steps in professional football. After two initial call-ups against Málaga CF and CD Leganés, on November 1, 2025, he made his debut in Segunda División against UD Almería, playing six minutes at the UD Almería Stadium.
Five call-ups later, on January 2, 2026, another special moment arrived: his league debut at Ipurua, against CD Mirandés. Hugo played 23 minutes, showed quality touches, provided width and penetration to the team, actively contributing to the 2-1 victory in front of their fans.
This season, he has also participated in the Copa del Rey, playing 15 minutes against Náxara in October and 9 minutes against Elche in December, expanding his experience in official competition with the first team.
At the same time, Hugo continues to be an important player for the reserve team, which competes in Group 2 of the Segunda Federación, where he has played five matches and scored two goals this season.
After the match against Mirandés, Beñat San José explained his entry onto the field, stating that “we were looking for width and his great one-on-one ability,” highlighting the qualities that are allowing him to progress within the Eibar structure.
With still a long way to go, Hugo García is progressing by following the natural cycles of development and growth, without rushing, but demonstrating in every call-up and every minute that he is ready to continue learning and contributing to the SD Eibar sports project.
