Eibar suffer a narrow defeat away at Real Madrid

A fourth minute goal for the home side was enough for Real Madrid’s women’s team to take the win at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano.

Eibar’s women’s team visited Real Madrid on Saturday evening and the game started with an early goal for the home side, as Ivana scored what would turn out to be the only goal of the game. Despite this, Eibar didn’t let their heads drop and they tried to fight back. Real Madrid also had a few more chances in the game, with Feller having a shot that went just wide from a set-piece moments after the goal.

The home side continued to push, but Las Armeras were organised and solid in defence for the rest of the game. Annelie and Espe Pizarro even had chances to score what would have been an equaliser in the first half.

The second half began with Eibar pressing high up the pitch, although Real Madrid eventually retook possession and created a few more chances. They still couldn’t add to their lead, though, as the Eibar defence did well and there were several good interventions from Noelia.

The capital city side suffered more in the second half. Eibar coach Yerai Martin even made a number of changes in an attempt to shake up the game. Although the home side also made substitutions, Las Armeras could have levelled the game. The final few minutes were evenly matched and the final score was 1-0.
