Mission of he SD Eibar Foundation
The Foundation of the SD Eibar is the most human and committed expression of the ‘armourer’ spirit. It stems from a very particular way of understanding football: that of a humble, approachable club deeply rooted in its local area, which has grown thanks to the collective efforts of generations of people who have proudly upheld the values of Eibar and Debabarrena.
We are the social heart of SD Eibar, the vehicle that transforms the power generated by football into opportunities, inclusion, education and wellbeing for our community. We exist to give back to society everything it has given us over more than eight decades: support, hard work, trust, identity and a sense of belonging.
The Foundation works to ensure that the ‘Armero’ legacy extends beyond the ninety minutes of a match and lives on in every boy and girl who takes up football, in every person who finds a space for inclusion through sport, and in every initiative that promotes equality or protects our culture and our language. Because we understand that being an ‘Armourer’ is not just about wearing a set of colours, but about sharing values that unite us and make us stronger as a community.
Sporting Purpose
We do not simply seek to train athletes; we want to ensure that sport is an open, accessible and enriching space for everyone. True to the spirit of self-improvement that characterises SD Eibar, we drive forward inclusive and adapted football projects, promote healthy lifestyles and keep alive our connection with our veterans, who embody a history built on hard work, camaraderie and commitment.
Social Purpose
Our mission is to stand by people. We work hand in hand with institutions, associations, and social actors in Debabarrena to address the real needs of our community. We promote the widespread use of the Basque language, advocate for effective equality between women and men, collaborate with social services, and develop initiatives that help improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable groups. We want the power of the Armero spirit to reach those who need it most.
Educational Aims
We see our youth academy as a true school of life. Beyond sporting training, we instil the values that form part of our identity: respect, hard work, humility, teamwork, a commitment to the local community and pride in our culture.
Through our Gure Balioak programme, we convey to children and young people the essence of what it means to belong to SD Eibar. This project uses sport as an educational tool to foster positive attitudes both on and off the pitch, promoting equality, inclusion, responsibility, solidarity, respect for diversity, a commitment to the environment and a sense of belonging to our community.
Our aim is not merely to develop better footballers, but to help build better people.
