Equality Plan

The SD Eibar Foundation maintains a firm, ongoing and pioneering commitment to gender equality, incorporating this perspective as a strategic pillar of its social, sporting and institutional activities.

The club was a pioneer in this field when it launched its first Equality Plan in 2019, laying the foundations for a structured policy to promote equality at all levels of the organisation. The club is currently continuing to make progress in this area with the implementation of the second edition of the Effective Equality Plan, coordinated by a dedicated committee that works to identify imbalances, drive improvements and ensure balanced participation between women and men throughout the club’s structure.

This initiative forms part of the objectives set out in the club’s Strategic Plan, reinforcing internal and external policies that promote a healthy work-life balance, as well as the prevention of any form of discrimination or harassment on the grounds of gender or sexual orientation.

Furthermore, SD Eibar has signed the Country-wide Pact for Equality and Lives Free from Violence against Women – Berdintasun Belaunaldia (Promoting equality) promoted by Emakunde, thereby reinforcing its alignment with public equality policies in the Basque Country.

Equality Pilot Project 2025–2026

During the 2025–2026 season, SD Eibar is taking a pioneering role in a pilot project alongside Emakunde and the Basque Government, aimed at carrying out a realistic and in-depth assessment of the state of equality within the club. This analysis will enable the club to identify areas for improvement, define priorities and implement a specific action plan.

This project also aims to bring about change, as its findings and methodology will subsequently be rolled out to other clubs and sports disciplines, becoming a benchmark at both institutional and sporting levels.

Commitment to 8M and social leadership

During the 2024–2025 season, SD Eibar spearheaded the 8 March (8M) movement at Ipurua, bringing together the four leading Basque clubs in a joint initiative to raise awareness of and promote equality amongst their supporters, thereby reinforcing the role of sport as a tool for social awareness.

This leadership builds on a long-standing track record that positions the club as an active agent in promoting genuine equality, both on and off the pitch.

Towards the Third Equality Plan

Against this backdrop, the club is renewing its commitment and is already working on implementing the Third Equality Plan, with the aim of continuing to make progress towards building a more equitable, inclusive and fair organisation.

The Equality Plan is thus established as a key tool within the club’s strategy, reaffirming SD Eibar’s role as a pioneer in the integration of equality policies within the sporting sphere.
