Eibar held Atlético Madrid to a 2-2 stalemate in the final game of the season as the Armeros signed off their 2017/18 campaign at the Wanda Metropolitano, so often an unhappy stomping ground for visiting teams. Los Colchoneros fought back after going behind to Kike García's 35th-minute opener, but the visitors didn't give in at any stage and ultimately reaped their rewards to claim an extremely creditable draw.

In a game marked by various farewells, Eibar drew first blood courtesy of Kike García's sliding finish. The forward pounced on a ball in the area and nipped in just ahead of Jan Oblak to hand Eibar the lead. The visitors' joy was, however, short-lived as Fernando Torres restored parity on the stroke of half-time.

After the break, the Armeros upped the tempo a notch in a strong start to the second period. But in the 60th minute, Torres, who today was saying goodbye to the home fans, latched on to a ball in behind the Eibar defence to beat Marko Dmitrović and put Atleti in front. Minutes after going ahead, Atlético were reduced to 10 men after Lucas Hernández picked up a second booking.

The numerical advantage served to spur Eibar on, as they poured forward in search of an equaliser. In the 70th minute, Eibar's constant efforts were duly rewarded. Rubén Peña levelled terms when he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area and unleashed a bullet strike that flew past the helpless Oblak. No further goals were forthcoming as Eibar ended the season by putting a point on the board on the road.
