Yoel Rodríguez “nobody should feel that they are first choice or not, I am sure that if we all feel important in the team we will function better”
The goalkeeper Rodríguez has come on loan from Valencia CF, with an option to buy at the end of the season
Club Deputy Director, Jose María Arrizabalaga, presided over the official presentation of the players this afternoon, and speaking about the first of them, Arrizabalaga was clear “It was our wish to sign him outright, but the pressure by Valencia meant it just wasn’t possible. We have had to settle for the option to buy. We hope to be able to activate it at the end of the season, it will be a sign that things have gone very well for Yoel”.
Sporting Director, Fran Garagarza, began his intervention confirming his satisfaction for the incorporation of the keeper “We wanted a keeper, but we weren’t able to do it previously. He is well known to us and also to the coach. He is a reliable keeper and knows the first division. We are happy because he is the goalkeeper we wanted”.
Speaking to the press, the Galician made it clear that he doesn’t see the fight to be first-choice as something negative “For me it’s a challenge, in the last two years I didn’t play as much as I would have liked, so I will try to win a place in the first team from the first day. I am happy about it, we hope everything goes well. It’s going to be a challenge, nobody should feel that they are first choice or not. I am sure that if we all feel important in the team we will function better”.
