An October of little profit and sweet cup success

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

The month of October has left a bittersweet taste in the men's and women's sections of SD Eibar. The team led by Beñat San José has shown character, personality, and a recognizable style of play, but the results have not followed.

The month began with a defeat in Ceuta, influenced by the early expulsion of Buta. Despite playing almost the entire match with one player less, the Eibar team came close to earning points.

Back at Ipurua on matchday 9, Eibar secured a draw against CD Castellón in a balanced match, with opportunities for both teams. The fans responded with energy, and the team left a good impression with their intensity and tactical organization. However, both teams managed to cancel each other out to maintain the initial score.

The next match, at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, reflected the same trend as in previous away games. Against a UD Las Palmas team accustomed to dominating possession, Eibar showed superiority in the first half-hour and created clear chances, but the opponent was more effective. Despite Martón's late goal, the scoreline (3-1) did not do justice to the team's effort.

The end of the league month took place at Ipurua, with a draw against CD Leganés, where despite the rival coach's praise, Eibar was not satisfied with the single point earned (0-0) in front of their home crowd.

October was also the month chosen for the debut in the Copa del Rey. Náxara, from Segunda RFEF, was the opponent assigned in the draw and suffered the most vertical and effective version of Eibar. This aspect, which they had not managed to show in the league, was evident at the Luis de la Fuente, where Eibar secured their place in the next round with their first victory of the month (2-4), and also their first away win of the season.

Thus, October ends with frustration due to the lack of points, but also with the certainty that the team continues to grow in play and commitment and will have a new opportunity at the beginning of November to earn their first points away from Ipurua with their visit to UD Almería on November 1 at 9:00 p.m.

Identical feeling in SD Eibar Women

The month of October began with a 0-4 defeat at Ipurua against FC Barcelona on the 4th. A result that, despite being overwhelming, did not reflect the great defensive work carried out by the Eibar team. Another great performance in goal by Eunate Astralaga, with the great start to the league season she has had, earned her a second call-up to the Spanish National Team under the new coach, Sonia Bermúdez.

But it turned out to be a great defensive team effort that carried over to the next matchday. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Eibar then traveled to Tenerife to face a team that had not lost in the first six matchdays and was looking for its first home victory. But Eibar shattered any hope and secured their second away victory, taking the third position from a team that was starting to dream big.

It was important for the team to earn points before the first break of the season. A week later, Eibar faced their first derby against Real Sociedad, a team that, after a major restructuring, started the season aiming high. Thus, even though they arrived at Ipurua with significant absences, the txuri-urdin team won the derby and dashed Eibar's hopes of securing their first home win in this third Liga F season.

During the league break that closed the month, Eunate Astralaga, Opa Clement, Alimata Belem, and Emma Moreno participated with their respective national teams. The first played with Spain's senior team in home and away matches against Sweden in the Nations League. Opa Clement and Alimata Belem, with Tanzania and Burkina Faso respectively, participated in qualifiers for the next Africa Cup. And Emma Moreno played two friendlies against France with Spain's U-19 team.
