Two defensive lapses see Besiktas take win

SD Eibar failed to emerge victorious in their second outing in Austria, as the Armeros succumbed to a 3-0 reverse against the Turkish outfit

Saturday afternoon saw Leogang's Steinberg stadium play host to the second game of Eibar's pre-season training camp in Austria (kick-off 4pm CET). The players took to the pitch to warm temperatures and stands brimming with Besiktas supporters, who were in fine voice throughout.

José Luis Mendilibar's men struggled to gain a foothold in the opening minutes of the game and with just seven minutes on the clock Besiktas took the lead following an error in the Armeros' backline. The intense heat saw the referee call a water break and Mendilibar made the most of the stop in play to make some adjustments. On 36' Pedro León came close to restoring parity, only to see his goalbound shot scrambled away, but this effort nevertheless served to spark Eibar into life.

The Armeros made a bright start to the second half, fashioning several chances of note, however another defensive slip saw Besiktas double their advantage on 56 minutes. Just four minutes later the Turks broke away on the counter, after the referee had failed to award a penalty in Eibar's favour, and Tolgay Arslan made it three with a classy chipped finish over the helpless Asier Riesgo.

Saturday's game marked the second of the four games lined up during Eibar's Austrian training camp and next up for the Armeros is FC Cologne on Thursday, before Saturday's final game against Leipzig.
