The women’s first team, honoured for its trajectory this season
The armeras have retained their place in the division and were finalists of the Basque Cup
Today in the presidential box at Ipurua the SD Eibar women’s first team has been honoured by the Club for their trajectory during this season.
In its first season in the Second Division, the armeras have finished in tenth place and accomplished the objective of staying in the division. In addition, they reached the final of the Basque Cup–which was played last Saturday–in which they were defeated on penalties against Añorga after the match had finished in a one-all draw.
At the ceremony, the President of the Club, Amaia Gorostiza, transmitted to the players and coaching staff of the women’s team the “warmest congratulations, in the name of the whole Club for the excellent season you have had”.
“In the Second Division, a new category for all of you who make up the squad, you have managed to stay up and have ended the season with a well-deserved second place in the Basque Cup”.
“You should know that we feel very proud of all of you. I encourage you to use this fine season as a stimulus to start next season with renewed enthusiasm. You can be reassured that this Board is with you and that we will share both your joys and your sorrows”.
Following the address by Mikel González, Co-ordinator of Grassroots Football at the Club, there was the presentation of awards, which were given to the players Ane Egaña (voted Jokalari Eredugarria or exemplary player by her team mates), Naiara Lete (voted Lan Onari or excellent work by the coaching staff) and Irati Lazkano (for her selection to Euskal Selekzioa - Basque National Squad).
