The happiest day of Markel
Little Markel Mayora, an unconditional fan of Sergi Enrich during the whole of last season, discovered that dreams do sometimes come true, thanks to SD Eibar Foundation
On a cold afternoon back in April, when the game between Eibar–Deportivo de la Coruña was played, Markel Mayora, an 8-year old season ticket holder and unconditional fan of Sergi Enrich, took his seat accompanied by his aita (father) Iker and his aitxitxa (grandpa) Maiz. During the entire game he was waving a home-made flag, which had a drawing encouraging his favourite player on one side and on the other asked him for his shirt.
Unfortunately, a gust of wind snatched away the improvised flag, which escaped from his grasp and ended-up trapped between the bench and the stand. The happiness that came from an important draw for Eibar helped Markel to forget about the loss of his flag.
The following day, during the work to clean the ground, the drawing was found and thanks to SD Eibar Foundation the magic was set in motion. Through a publication in the social networks Markel’s family was found and, once the season had ended, his family took him to Ipurua with the excuse that the location of his season ticket seat had been changed.
What Markel didn’t imagine when he went down to tread on the turf of Ipurua for the first time in his life, was that Sergi Enrich would be waiting for him on the bench to return his drawing, present him with the shirt he wore during the match and have a kick about with him.
The meeting between the fan and his favourite player, made possible by SD Eibar Foundation, showed little Markel that sometimes, dreams really do come true.
