The gunsmiths let up and allow a comeback in the final minutes against Peñas Oscenses
Eibar lost 1-2 in Huesca in a game they dominated until the 70th minute
The first Eibar women’s team suffered a harsh defeat in Huesca against the Peñas Oscenses in a game which the gunsmiths were leading until the 70th minute.
The game began with the gunsmiths dominating the match and creating clear chances. In the 3rd minute a low cross by Ainhoa Alonso wasn’t put away by Ainhoa Bilbao in the net.
A few minutes later Irune, on her own and with only the keeper to beat, hit a lob and the ball went just wide. Then in the 16th minute a corner taken by Ainhoa Alonso was finished off by Ainhoa Larruskain, sending the ball to the back of the net. The gunsmiths controlled and dominated the game without actually creating many chances until the whistle blew to end the first half.
The second half began with the same dynamic, although the gunsmiths' domination was not as obvious. With the entrance of players with fresh legs, Haizea Lomba had 3 clear occasions in front of the keeper, but for one reason or another the ball didn’t cross the goal line. Ainhoa Alonso also had a clear scoring chance after dribbling past the keeper, but an o¡Oscense defender did well to close the angle of the shot.
The home team decided to take a risk and it paid off. In the 70th minute from a break down the right they hit a low cross that the gunsmiths’ rearguard failed to clear; the ball was then hit from point blank range and while Iratxe, the gunsmiths’ keeper, managed to touch the ball, she was unable to deflect it from the goal. 1-1 on the scoreboard.
With the scores level, both teams had clear chances to score. The locals hit the woodwork and the goalkeeper Iratxe made a spectacular save, but the gunsmiths also had two clear opportunities to raise their score, but first Anega failed when shooting at the goal with the keeper already beaten and then Ainhoa Alsonso didn’t get it right in a one-on-one against the goalie.
When there were five minutes left for the end of the match, a cross from the left wing dipped viciously. Iratxe saved it, the ball hit the post and the rebound fell kindly to the forward who, unopposed, put the 2-1 on the scoreboard which is how the game ended.
