SD Eibar will give impetus to its Foundation to “give back to Eibar society a part of all that it has given to us”
Among other initiatives, the armero Club will fund other sporting clubs and CSR campaigns
The President of SD Eibar, Amaia Gorostiza, affirmed today that the Club will boost the SD Eibar Foundation to “give back” to Eibar society “a part of all that it has given to us”.
At an informative meeting that was also attended by the Vice-president of the club, Mikel Larrañaga, and the Manager of the Foundation, Jon Arregi, Amaia Gorostiza explained that the Foundation is “a strategic part of the Club, the umbilical cord that keeps us joined to the people of Eibar”.
“Within the Foundation’s lines of work, we want to give special impetus to two in particular: on the one hand, to help the clubs of different sporting disciplines in Eibar (for which an extraordinary item of up to 100,000 euros has been set aside); on the other, to co-operate with the NGOs and associations working in the social field to boost their activities”.
With regard to the extraordinary item destined to other sports clubs, with a maximum overall contribution of 100,000 euros, it has been decided to match the amount allocated by Eibar City Council to subsidise sports clubs in the city, so that these clubs will now receive twice as much as they were going to originally.
The Foundation was established in 2004 under the mandate of the Board of Directors of Jaime Barriuso, but since then it was barely active until the end of 2014.
In November of that year, personnel were assigned to the management of the Foundation, and it began to programme the events for the 75th anniversary, together with a programme of Corporate Social Responsibility.
From now on, the Board has proposed giving new impetus to the Foundation to “study in depth what can be done for SD Eibar and for the city of Eibar”.
At the juridical level, the Trust is going to be renewed and an Executive Committee established, integrating in these the institutions, social groups of interest to Eibar, (such as supporters’ clubs or veterans) as well as representatives of the city’s social, charitable or sporting organisations.
