SD Eibar Veterans' Association signs agreement with club to give project official status

This afternoon saw an event staged at which club president, Amaia Gorostiza, and the head of the association, Roberto Marzana, signed the agreement.

The Eibar Veterans' Association Football Club was founded in May 2009, however it is only since this afternoon, and in the wake of an agreement signed between the association and the club, that the link between the two institutions has been officially recognised. Following on from this agreement, the group is now officially connected to the club for the purposes of all of its projects and events and is considered as another team within the club's current structure, taking its place alongside the 11 teams that make up the academy, plus the women's first team and feeder side, CD Vitoria.

The association brings together many of the players who played a part in some of the most iconic moments in the club's history, with the group including true legends, including the likes of Oskar Artetxe, Bixente Oyarzabal, Xabier Gurrutxaga. This organisation enables these players to maintain their link with the club.

From today, the Veterans' Association will enjoy official status, allowing them to represent the club at institutional and social functions, whilst they will also form part of the club's daily life and will serve as true ambassadors of Eibar's values.

In terms of the organisation of the group, the Veterans' Association - just like the rest of the club's teams - will be issued with an annual budget, with the group set to pursue two main objectives: firstly, the participation in the Northern Veterans League, which is run by the FEAFV (The Spanish Federation of Veteran Footballers' Associations) and secondly, the staging of matches against the veteran teams of the first team's opponents on a given weekend, such as the game held against Rayo Vallecano in the past or the match scheduled for this weekend in Valencia.

The association is also committed to launching and promoting the development of projects and events in a bid to instil the club's values, just as they did last summer through their participation in the United Nations International Tournament in Geneva, a competition which saw the Armeros crowned champions to secure SD Eibar's first-ever trophy in an international competition in the process.

Lastly, the SD Eibar Veterans' Association sought to thank all of those who took part in the tribute event held on 19 November at the Astelena restaurant. As a result of this event, the association has been able to collect the contact details and generate a more complete database of the club's veterans.
