SD Eibar run out 3-1 winners over Real Unión in first pre-season outing

Enrich, Kike García and Nano were all on target for the Armeros.

SD Eibar overcame Real Unión at Zarautz in the opening friendly of their pre-season campaign. The Armeros bossed this encounter, which was played in unbearable heat, from start to finish and made their dominance tell through Sergi Enrich's first-half strike and efforts after the interval from Kike García and Nano Mesa.

With 15 minutes on the clock, Enrich netted the team's first goal of the pre-season programme, unleashing a sumptuous strike which flew beyond Ignacio Otaño. Eibar had the chances to have doubled their advantage, firstly through Rubén Peña, and later Takashi Inui, but their efforts narrowly missed the target.

José Luis Mendilibar fielded a completely different starting XI for the second period, with the exceptions of Jon Ander Amelibia and Iván Alejo, as the Blaugranas continued to put in a solid display. On 55', Kike García scored the second of the game, pouncing on the rebound after an Alejo free-kick had been scrambled away by Otaño. Just a few minutes later, Nano made it three after a fine piece of play from Ander Capa down the right.

With three minutes remaining, Mikel Orbegozo struck to reduce the arrears with a strike from the edge of the area which whistled past the powerless Areitio.

Mendilibar's men face their second pre-season run-out on Wednesday at Atxabalpe, when Barkaldo will be the opponents.
