SD Eibar participate in World Football Summit Bilbao

Managing director, Patricia Rodríguez, and the director of the club's Foundation, Jon Arregi, took part in the event as speakers

The past two days have seen Bilbao's Palacio Euskalduna play host to the World Football Summit, the leading football industry congress on the planet, with SD Eibar acting as one of the event sponsors.

Hundreds of visitors from within the football and business worlds descended on the Basque capital to attend the two-day congress, in which Patricia Rodríguez and Jon Arregi gave presentations.

Rodríguez took part in a panel discussion on internationalisation, in which she presented the strategy being led by the club to promote its brand outside of Spain. She drew particular attention to the Japanese market, where Eibar come in directly behind FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in terms of the number of followers.

SD Eibar's managing director went on to explain that the club's presence in Asia isn't limited to a one-off visit, but revealed that as a part of the club's international expansion strategy, the intention is to establish a permanent base in the mid to long term.

Rodríguez was joined on the panel by Óscar Mayo, LaLiga's director of international development; Víctor Cobos, CEO at M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment; and Javier Guerrero, international business executive at DV7 Soccer Academy for a discussion entitled 'The challenge of internationalisation in our game: models of success and transformations'.

Meanwhile, Arregi took part in a discussion alongside Lola Romero from Atlético Madrid and Ebru Köksal, director of Women in Football in a seminar entitled 'Women's Football, the present or the future?' The director of Eibar's Foundation spoke of the club's strategic commitment to the women's game.
