SD Eibar join forces with Gipuzkoa Regional Government in programme to support high-performance athletes
The initiative will be run through the Kirolgi Foundation and features the support of organisations such as the Real Sociedad Foundation, the SD Eibar Foundation and the Ibiliz Foundation.
2017 is set to see the Gipuzkoa Regional Government's department for culture and sport launch a programme designed to assist high-performance athletes from Gipuzkoa. The scheme aims to promote talent, improve the athletes' working environment and provide them with the necessary support to go on and achieve the best results in their competitions.
The initiative has been launched following the identification of a series of requirements and deficiencies - which very often are not purely financially-related - and seeks to allow athletes to concentrate solely on their sporting events.
To satisfy these needs and deficiencies, the department of culture and sport, via the Kirolgi Foundation and other collaborative organisations who secured the tender, have designed a support platform for athletes, which will offer a wide range of services and support.
This first phase of the project features the support and participation of the Real Sociedad Foundation, the SD Eibar Foundation and the Ibiliz Foundation. The registration period to apply for the programme grants is set to open in February 2017, with applications welcomed from high-performance athletes, including olympians, members of national squads and those who are considered to be a role model for Gipuzkoa and who assist in the promotion of the region's brand beyond its borders.
