SD EIBAR FOUNDATION PLAYS ITS PART IN 20TH KORRIKA RACE

The club is collaborating as a Korrika Laguntzaile (Korrika Race Assistant)

Last Saturday's clash between SD Eibar and RCD Espanyol at Ipurua and the meeting between the club's women's team and Nuestra Señora de Belén at Unbe served to promote the partnership agreement between the SD Eibar Foundation and KORRIKA, with both the club's men's and women's first teams taking to the pitch sporting Korrika's official bibs.

The 20th edition of the Korrika, a race organised by AEK, which this year carries the slogan of 'Bat Zuk', takes place from 30 March to 9 April and runs between Otxandio and Pamplona. The race is set to pass through Eibar on 7 April, when the club will play its part with players, coaching staff and members of the club's management poised to run a kilometre and promote the race throughout the city's streets.

As for the club representatives involved, Ainhoa Larruskain and members of the men's first-team squad, Asier Riesgo and Anaitz Arbilla will be joined by coach José Luis Mendilibar as official race assistants (Korrika Laguntzaileak), displaying the cards which recognise their status as assistants. Through its Foundation, SD Eibar have reaffirmed their commitment to the Basque language, its teaching and promotion, with the club advocating the use of the language in the professional football ranks and in daily life throughout the year.

The Foundation's involvement in the Korrika, the biggest amateur race held in favour of the Basque language, is part of the department's efforts to promote the language, a task that it has been heavily involved in over recent months, participating in initiatives to raise awareness of the Basque government's Euskararen Txantxangorria campaign, as well as launching an internal Basque language policy and by collaborating in the Kilometroak, Ibilaldia, Nafarroa Oinez and Araba Euskaraz festivals, in addition to introducting an .eus web domain, including the www.sdeibar.eus web address, amongst others.
