SD Eibar Foundation hosts opening ceremony of 2016-17 season courses

From today, the classrooms in the North Stand will play host to the second editions of the Coaching Course and the Diploma in the Technical Management of Football Clubs

This afternoon saw the classrooms in the North Stand host the opening ceremony for the courses organised and run by the club's Foundation. This year, for the second year running, SD Eibar is offering students the chance to obtain a coaching badge endorsed by the Guipuzcoan Football Federation, as well as the Diploma in the Technical Management of Football Clubs, a course which is jointly run along with the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). This training provision sees the club consolidate its commitment to education within one of its renovated stands.

The ceremony was attended by club president, Amaia Gorostiza; vice presidents, Joseba Unamuno and Mikel Larrañanga; board member and vice president of the Foundation, Jon Ander Ulazia. Alongside the representatives from SD Eibar, members of staff from the Federation were also present, including the head of studies, José Luis Txakartegi and the organisation's secretary, Egoitz Mendizabal, whilst the dean of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Science at the UPV/EHU, Maite Fuentes, was also in attendance.

As the president, Amaia Gorostiza noted, the club's training provision is one that is establishing itself over time, "It's a proud moment to be welcoming you all here because it means that the project which we launched last season is really establishing itself. This building, which is part of a stand of a Primera División stadium, contains two classrooms, from which we hope to deliver the coaches of the future and experts in management, not just throughout the province, but across all of the Basque Country. We hope that this course opens many doors for you, not just within the province, but right across the Basque Country. If this comes to pass, it'll mean that our objectives have been well targeted".

In her address, Fuentes expressed her gratitude for the combined efforts of the UPV/EHU and Eibar, "I give my thanks to SD Eibar and to all of you for your participation in a course which we consider to be vitally important. At the end of last year's successful course we already mentioned that it was the first time that a football club had approached us with the idea of bringing together all of the technical knowledge from amongst all of the specialist areas from across our region. SD Eibar has been able to unite this knowledge in what's an inter-disciplinary module and we're going to try and bring in the top professionals from within their fields as we continue to work alongside Eibar, whose working model as a club and sporting ideology represent an example to follow".
