SD Eibar falls to a short loss on its visit to Espanyol (1-0)

A goal by Hermoso and the armeros could not scoreback

Eibar has suffered defeat against Espanyol on the sixth gameweek of La Liga. The team of Mendilibar have not been able to add points in their visit to the RCDE Stadium and have lost by the minimum to a solitary goal of beautifully mediated second half of game.

The los armeros had been surprised by the frantic start of the home team that had the clearest chances at the start of the match. In just two minutes the locals had set foot in the Eibar area in three situations. First, through a Baptistao kick that gone away. And then, with a double chance in which Dmitrovic had to intervene both the times.
With the passage of minutes, Eibar had settled, tried to lower the pace of the locals and tried to reach the opposite goal through possession. However, the best chances were to come on the counterattacks. At the end of the first half, Orellana took advantage of a good pass from De Blasis, but his shot hit the side of the net.
As soon as the second half started, Cardona had tried with a shot from outside the area forcing Diego López to stretch thoroughly. From there, the locals pushed hard for the first goal of the game. And it did arrive for them midway through the second part. Melendo picked up the rebound of a corner and returned to ball to the center area, where he has connected with the head of Hermoso that saw the stretch of Dmitrovic in vain and ball ended inside the net.
Mendilibar wanted to turn the proceedings with subs Enrich and Charles entering, but the home team remained very solid in defense and prevented the armeros from reaching the goal easily, keeping eibar goal at nil.
