SD Eibar donates last season's surplus kit to aid refugees in Greece

This initiative is one of those led by the SD Eibar Foundation to assist refugee groups

Just as it has done for the past two years, SD Eibar has once again this year donated surplus kit from the previous season - the 2016/17 campaign - to a charity cause. On this occasion, the chosen destination for the donated clothing was Greece, where various organisations and independent volunteers are involved in aid programmes aimed at Syrian refugees who have emigrated to Europe, many of whom are undocumented and live in terrible humanitarian conditions.

Donated via the Gipuzkoan social intervention association, Koloreak Haizean, the clothing donated by the SD Eibar Foundation contributes to the social and education programmes involving the practice of sport that have been rolled out in the refugee camps in the Greek cities of Athens and Skaramagas.

On the ground there are other associations working alongside Koloreak Haizean, such as Holes in the Borders or Acciò Solidaria Mediterránea on the Alternativa Habitacional project, which seeks to offer decent homes and organise activities which serve to distance unaccompanied young people, who have been forced to flee from their countries, from the problems on the streets.

This initiative is one of those led by the SD Eibar Foundation to assist refugee groups and further evidences the active role played by the institution in the international #WelcomeRefugees campaign.
