REPORT. Eibar hold firm at Ipurua (5-0)

A 5-0 thrashing of Amorebieta keeps the Armeros in the leading positions

Eibar ensured they remained in the top positions in the table after beating Amorebieta 5-0 at Ipurua.

In their last four home games, Eibar have recorded four wins, scoring 14 goals and conceding just one.

The Armeros settled in after the 10th minute, with a goal from Stoichkov, who headed home from Arbilla's corner. It was the tenth goal this season for the striker from San Roque, who broke a streak of not scoring that had lasted since January 21, in Huesca.

After the goal, Amorebieta pushed forward and allowed Eibar to catch them short at the back with dangerous counter-attacks. Stoichkov, in the 24th minute and Bautista in the 32nd. had two good chances to increase the lead.

The second goal came in stoppage time of the first half when Ager Aketxe masterfully converted a penalty that was given for a foul on Stoichkov.

The game was settled at the start of the second half, with Jose Corpas scoring to make it 3-0 in the 49th minute after a great through ball from Stoichkov, who gave Amorebieta nightmares all afternoon.

The fourth goal came from Jon Bautista, who took advantage of a pass from Konrad to score his 17th goal. The fifth was scored by Konrad himself who, after a magnificent piece of individual play, scored with a low shot just inside the post.

Defensive solvency, midfield dominance and quick transitions were the keys to a victory that kept Joseba Etxeberria's team's chances of winning promotion intact with four games to go.
