REPORT. Eibar earn a valuable point at Elche (0-0)

The Armeros remain in second place and win the overall head-to-head against the Ilicitanos

Eibar earned a valuable point at Elche with a 0-0 draw, allowing them to consolidate their position in second place in the table and to win the head-to-head battle with the Alicante side.

The first half was dominated by Elche, who took the initiative and created danger in the Eibar area, although they were unable to score thanks, in part, to Luca’s several excellent interventions.

The Armeros also managed to create a number of chances of their own.

In the 18th minute, the local coach, Sebastián Beccacece, was sent off for repeatedly and vehemently protesting the disallowing of a goal by his team, with the goal ruled out for a foul on Luca.

In the second half, the home side’s dominance eased and Eibar began to play more freely. In the 59th minute, Stoichkov was left alone in front of the home goalkeeper after a pass from Aketxe, but he wasn’t able to score.

Both teams went in search of all three points in the final stretch of the game, with Elche the more insistent, but the scoreboard remained unchanged and Eibar managed to pick up points at a very difficult ground.
