REPORT: Another victory and another clean sheet at Ipurua (1-0)

The Armeros continue to push for the promotion places after beating Cartagena

Eibar recorded another win and another clean sheet at Ipurua with a 1-0 win over Cartagena.

Stoichkov's 10th-minute strike secured the three points for his side, who remain in the hunt for the automatic promotion places with two games remaining in the league.

Just like the match against Amorebieta, Eibar were quick to score, with the same players involved as on that occasion. Arbilla's header from a corner was headed home by Stoichkov. Initially the goal was disallowed, but VAR ruled it valid with the Armeros' goal scorer having been assisted by the presence of a defender.

Joseba Etxeberria's team were constantly attacking down the flanks and between the lines, and although Cartagena tried to shake off their dominance with the use of speed on the counterattack, it was the home side who were creating danger.

Despite attempts to put the game to bed before the break, the score was 1-0 at halftime, and the Armeros will have felt as though they should have had a greater advantage.

In the second half, the dominance of the game slipped away and Cartagena spent plenty of time in Eibar's half, albeit they still struggled to create chances.

The uncertainty of the narrow scoreline made for a nervy final stretch of the match, for both the Eibar players and fans who, when the final whistle finally did arrive, were able to celebrate the victory together.
