REPORT. A draw at Ipurua to finish the year (1-1)
Aketxe cancelled out Sporting's opening goal from the penalty spot
Eibar and Sporting de Gijón played out a one-goal draw in a match in which Ager Aketxe scored a penalty to cancel out Sporting's first-half goal.
The match started evenly, with both teams vying to take the initiative and searching for the opener.
The first goal came in the 22nd minute in a play in which Campuzano snuck in behind the Eibar defense and fired a low shot to find the net.
After the goal, Eibar pressed to try to get a quick equalizer and began to dominate. But they did so without creating clear chances against a Sporting side that defended well and managed to go into the break with a lead.
In the second half, Eibar dominated clearly. Sporting defended the 0-1 lead and tried to spring a surprise or two on the counter. The first clear chance came in the 52nd minute with a shot from outside the area by Aketxe that resulted in a corner.
The Armeros' own number 10 was the man behind the equalizer, in the 66th minute, with an impeccable left-footed shot into the top corner of the net from a penalty following a foul on Tejero.
Ager Aketxe came very close to a brace in the 76th minute when he hit the post from a free kick.
The match was played out at a high intensity until the end, but there were no more goals and the last match of the year at Ipurua ended with the points shared.
