Ramis: We're in a comfortable position which sees us fighting for a top-10 finish and leaves us dreaming of bigger things

The Mallorca-born centre-back spoke to the press at Atxabalpe

Speaking today after training at the club's Atxabalpe Training Ground, SD Eibar central defender, Iván Ramis, declared that the team is "in a very comfortable position which sees us fighting game by game for a top-10 finish and leaves us dreaming of bigger things".

The Eibar defender insisted that the team's objectives are "to mathematically seal our survival and then look to aspire to bigger things".

"We're having a really good second half of the campaign, in which we've lost just twice. It would have been better had we won the games, particularly here at home, but as long as we're putting points on the board, we have to enjoy the moment. We must go out and perform as we know we can. Against Espanyol, we once started with a lot of intensity, just as we had done right throughout the first half of the campaign and we've got to continue to begin games in that manner.

"We're gracious and we're aware that we're Eibar, but we'll be fighting game after game to finish as high as possible. We know that we're going to have to pick points up on the road. If we win our home games and get something on our travels, we'll finish amongst the top 10".

When quizzed about the chances of the Armeros securing a European berth for next season, Ramis remarked that, "If we manage it, it would make everyone even happier, but if not, we have to be very pleased with the season we've had".

With regards to the possible relationship between the side's performance levels and the advanced stage of the season, he declared that "Both for the big teams and the little ones, the number of games affects us all". "There are those sides that are battling to stay up, those who are going for a top-seven finish and there are a lot of nerves and intensity and that can cause fatigue in every team. I think that we have performed very well and we'll continue on in the same vein".

On a personal level, he stressed that he feels "very happy because I'm getting regular minutes and the coach has placed his faith in me. I have to keep on doing what I'm doing, I've been pretty consistent this term and I must keep that up".
