Pedro León: We'll be looking to put in a competitive display and take the three points

The SD Eibar midfielder spoke to the press to preview this weekend's clash against Sevilla FC

Speaking ahead of Saturday's encounter against Sevilla FC, Pedro León - who has notched two goals in the last two games - today insisted that, "We'll be looking to put in a competitive display and take the three points".

When asked about his fine recent form in front of goal, the summer recruit expressed his hopes that, "that's not the end of it. You go on runs and I'm lucky enough to have scored two goals, but I'm more focused on the team as a whole, which is the most important thing".

"We're realistic and we know that being up in sixth is just a temporary thing. We aren't looking to stay there, our aim is to stay in the division. We're on good form. Sevilla are a great side, who play some very good football. Yesterday they went out and showed that against one of the top teams in Europe and they managed to get a draw. We know that they're tough opposition and are a difficult side to play against, they play very good football and this year are in the Champions League, but if we play our game, with what we've got, we can compete against them".

When quizzed about the quick turnaround time for the Sevilla players in the wake of last night's game, León commented that, "Sevilla were involved in the Europa League for several years and they're used to it. They've made some top signings of players who are used to playing Wednesday/Sunday and I don't think that it'll affect them that much".

In León's eyes, to get the better of the Andalusians, Eibar will need to "approach it in the same way we have our last three games. Obviously against Deport we didn't get anything out of the game, but we still played well. Our duty is to compete in all of our games. We're a small team and if we take our eye off the ball we won't win any games. We know that we've got to compete and that we'll have to fight right throughout the whole game to get the three points".

"We're trying to impose the style of play that Eibar operated under last year. Then it'll be a case of perfecting it, finding some consistency and then looking to have a good season. Our aim is to reach the 42-point mark and then go on and enjoy the rest of the season".

"Ipurua is a special ground. When you come here as a visiting player it's not easy. I've only had one game here as an Eibar player, but I sensed that the home support is very special and we hope that, just like it was when I came here as a visiting player, it's difficult for them and that we can get the three points".

"If there's one thing that characterises the way Mendilibar's teams play it's that they go all out, regardless of where you're playing, be it the Camp Nou or the Bernabéu. It's now nine years since I played under him at Valladolid and I'm well placed to comment on his playing style. We know that they're tough opposition and are a difficult side to play against, they play very good football and this year are in the Champions League, but if we play our game, with what we've got, we can compete against them".
