Painful Camp Nou defeat for Eibar side deserving of more

Enrich claimed the Armeros' goal

Eibar slipped to 6-1 reverse at the hands of FC Barcelona in the sides' LaLiga Matchday 5 fixture at the Camp Nou. Despite giving a good account of themselves and deserving more from the game, the Armeros were powerless to stand in the way of the Culés' quality and clinical streak as the home side ran out comprehensive winners.

The Armeros were very much the dominant force in the first half, with a clear-cut opening for Sergi Enrich forcing Marc-André ter Stegen into a good save. Shortly afterwards, Takashi Inui tried his luck, with the German custodian once again on hand to thwart Eibar's efforts. However, just before the interval, Lionel Messi handed Barça the lead after he converted a questionable penalty, before Paulinho's bullet header from a corner further tipped the game in the hosts' favour.

After the restart, Eibar continued to probe, only for Denis Suárez to score a third for Barcelona. Although Sergi Enrich reduced the deficit following a fine team move, the Armeros' hopes were soon extinguished as the excellent Messi struck three times to put the result beyond the visitors' reach. Despite this, Eibar didn't crumble and kept going. However, their efforts to cut the arrears ultimately proved unsuccessful, with Rubén Peña's drilled strike cannoning back off the upright and Charles' towering header rattling the crossbar.
