New heads of Women's Football and the Football School

Jon Elorriaga has been appointed as assistant to the head of youth football and is responsible for the women's teams, whilst Mikel Egaña takes up the role of coordinator of the Football School.

SD Eibar have appointed Jon Elorriaga as assistant to the head of youth football and he will be responsible for the women's teams and Mikel Egaña as coordinator of the Football School. These appointments are a part of the club's expansion and improvement plan for its youth teams, an initiative which is being rolled out through the SD Eibar Foundation.

The role occupied by Elorriaga will serve to strength the club's three ladies' teams in a bid to promote the specific nature of this important department and the club's commitment to the women's game.

The Football School also has a new coordinator in the shape of Mikel Egaña, who reinforces the presence of the management team in the day-to-day running of the school, as well as providing a permanent communication channel with parents.

The 2016-17 campaign got up and running for the Football School in October with over 2,000 boys and girls signed up, with the novelty that the structure comes under the methodological umbrella of the youth football set-up for the first time this year.

The most visible element of this integration, piloted by Fer Iturbe, coordinator of internal teams and methodology, is the launch of the coaches' notepad, which represents an important step in reducing the gap between the social and sporting projects run by the SD Eibar Foundation.

The aim is to find a balance and common ground so that there are parallels between the more fun tasks and those which are more demanding. These elements will be previously agreed upon and are familiar to our players.

One of the aims of the initiative is that the player who starts out in the Eibar academy and who will spend a long time at the club is introduced to the methodological aspects at the earliest possible stage. These elements will subsequently be further developed with greater and more specific content at youth-team level.

Furthermore, this notepad also represents a vital tool for our school's coaches as a guide to be consulted and for creative work. The notepad should act as a go-to before planning the exercises to be delivered during a session.

The importance of the academy has this season been reinforced with the launch of two new teams, SD Eibar Urko (Regional Preferente) and a new Alevín side, which brings the total of youth teams to 11, in addition to the Women's first team, who continue to represent the club at Second Division level.
