Minister of culture & linguistic policy for the Basque government visits Ipurua
Bingen Zupiria met with the Eibar president and was taken on a stadium tour
Bingen Zupiria, minister of culture and linguistic policy for the Basque government, today paid a visit to Ipurua, where he met with SD Eibar president Amaia Gorostiza.
The meeting, which represented the first contact between the two parties since the formation of the new Basque government, was also attended by Jon Redondo, director of sports for the autonomous government, whilst representing Eibar were Mikel Larrañaga, the club's institutional vice-president; and Patricia Rodríguez, the Armeros' general manager.
Following on from the meeting, which was held in the VIP Lounge at Ipurua, Amaia Gorostiza took Zupiria on a stadium tour.
In the wake of this first meeting, the minister sought to thank the club for their invitation: "Before coming here, we were aware that SD Eibar was more just a football club and we've now been able to see that for ourselves. We've witnessed the importance that the club has within the city itself, the surrounding towns and throughout the whole area when it comes to launching different initiatives and projects. We've seen how SD Eibar fully intends on paying the sporting world, the community and the business sector back for everything it has given them".
