Mendilibar: We'll go out with the same determination as we always do

The Eibar boss welcomes Ramis back into the fray

Ahead of Sunday's encounter against Celta at Ipurua (18:30 kick-off), José Luis Mendilibar today insisted that his side will go out "with the same determination as we always do, to try to stop them from playing their game".

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mendilibar revealed that centre-back Iván Ramis today trained with the rest of the group, which puts him in contention for a return "as long as he comes through tomorrow OK".

The Armeros' boss, however, will have to contend with the absences of the injured Yoel, Fran Rico, Pedro León and Iván Alejo.

"After the defeat against Barcelona, the good thing is that we don't have to wait long until our next game and our attentions have now turned to it. Celta play in a similar way to Barcelona, but each team is different and every game is a different story. So far they've struggled to implement that brand of football. Let's see what sort of shape they come here in".

"Both teams are keen to put points on the board. They're in greater need of the points than we are, but it's always good to win at home, because if you don't, it's almost as if there's then more urgency to get results, despite us only being six games into the season".

When quizzed about the start to the campaign made by Sunday's opponents, Mendilibar underlined that "they're going through a transition in terms of ideas and are in the process of buying into the new coach's thinking". "They've got some quality players. and are a side that were involved in Europe last season, but they haven't got off to such a good start this time round. There have been a lot of changes (the coach and players), but they've got a good team and they'll come through this. They're a side that are capable of playing the sort of football their coach wants them to".
