Mendilibar speaks ahead of the Valencia CF game

The Eibar coach has named a 20-man squad for the clash

"Both sides will be keen to get a win, but not just because we both lost our opening games, but because all teams always want to get the three points. We're aware that it'll be tough and we know what sort of side Valencia are".

"It's almost as if you lose your first game and the alarm bells start ringing and you've then got to win your next game. If we'd have won last week, we'd have exactly the same desire to beat Valencia at home. We want to pick up the three points and that's all there is to it".

"You don't always lose because you've played poorly, just like you don't always win when you play well. In A Coruña we made a mistake on their second goal by giving away a penalty after we'd been warned days earlier in a talk that this season they'd be clamping down on the use of arms and hands to push and pull opponents. It's important for us not to make mistakes. The performances can always be better or worse and you can be more or less clinical, but you've got to make sure that the opposition don't win on account of your mistakes".

"Valencia will be coming here to try and win the game, regardless of who lines for them. They'll bring a 19-man squad, but that's nothing new. There are a lot of rumours flying around".

On the transfer window: "There's a whole circus surrounding players coming and going out. I can't understand why the window isn't open all year round. The supermarkets are open every day of the year, aren't they? It should be the same in this case. There's talk of players who'll be leaving and others coming in. It's crazy. We can't wait for the 31 August to come round so that we can focus on the group of players we're got here. That said, next week a club may well come along and put the money down and there's nothing you can do about it. I can't wait for 31 August to come round".

"Nowadays, and with the way things are in football, it's as if there's a possibility that anyone could end up leaving and improving their lot, it's as if nobody is pleased with the contract that they've got. It's like we're all looking to leave. Now that the window is open and there's some of them that will have people going and putting ideas into their heads, that possibility is always there. I just can't understand how it can be like this".
