Mendilibar: "Our main aim is to win tomorrow's game"

The Armeros' boss has announced his squad for the trip to Espanyol

José Luis Mendilibar spoke in the build-up to tomorrow night's clash against Espanyol and named the following squad list for the game: Riesgo, Dmitrovic, Capa, Peña, Lombán, Paulo, Jovanovic, Cote, Juncà, Dani García, Escalante, Pape Diop, Joan Jordán, Pedro León, Alejo, Ángel López, Charles and Kike García. One new face in the squad list is winger Ángel López, who Mendilibar has drafted in from the feeder team.

The Eibar coach spoke of the importance of his side claiming the game's first goal. "Whichever team scores first will have a better chance of winning the game. We're struggling for goals at the moment and it's not as if they're terribly prolific", he explained. "We're struggling to win games. Whenever you go on a good winning run, you're always that bit closer to losing a game and the same applies now. We'll be going there to win. The other day the game got away from us right at the start. Let's see if we're at least capable of not making things easy for them and we'll also work hard to win", he declared.

Mendilibar went on to refer to Espanyol's inconsistent form over the course of the current campaign. "I think that they played well against Valencia, they attacked and looked dangerous, but in their last game they performed as they have been doing all season. They've produced some good displays, but I don't think that there have been as many of these as they would have liked, but I'm certain that they'll be keen to beat us in front of their own fans".

Mendilibar went on to express his satisfaction at Pedro León's recent contract renewal. "It's really good news for him and the club, because nobody can question his ability as a footballer. An agreement was reached quickly and it's great news".
