Mendilibar: Malaga are playing well and so are we. It will be a difficult and attractive match

SD Eibar and Malaga CF will play at Ipurua tomorrow at 18.15.

José Luis Mendilibar, the coach of SD Eibar, affirmed today that their rival tomorrow, Malaga, are in good form “but we are also doing well”, so it will be “a difficult and attractive game”.

In the press conference before tomorrow’s game, Eibar’s coach recalled that Malaga have only lost one league game (against FC Barcelona) in their last eight.

“It is a team looking up, not down. The started poorly but bit by bit are moving up the table. Now they are good in defence and don’t give away many goals. When we went there they were one of the teams that most made us suffer during the first half of the season.   Early on they had trouble scoring goals. The reappearance of Camacho has given them life in midfield, they’ve come out stronger. Now they are feeling good and will come here to win the game, not to speculate”, he said.

Regarding his team, he said they had trained well during the week. “We are ready to play the game”. Mendilibar can’t count on the injured Iván Ramis or Antonio Luna, who had recovered from a muscle injury but had to withdraw at the end of today’s training session after a recurrence of the problem in the same area.

On the departure of Simone Verd, who is returning to Italian football and follows the announcement last Sunday of Mikel Arruabarrena’s leaving (on loan to Huesca), he said they are “two lads who have our appreciation. It’s a shame, but only 11 can play and it’s a fact of life: they want to play so they’ve have asked to go.
