Mario Soriano: I really liked the project Eibar offered me

New Eibar player Mario Soriano stated that he "really liked the project they offered me" during his introductory press conference.

The Madrid-born midfielder arrives on loan from Deportivo La Coruña, and he was accompanied at today's press conference by Eibar's Sporting Director, César Palacios.

MARIO SORIANO’S THOUGHTS

"The welcome by the team and at the Club has been very good, and I'm very happy to be here. I had already spoken to Joseba Etxeberria on the phone before coming, and he gave me a good feeling. He really likes parallel play, and I think it's going to be a very good season, and everything is going to go well. The coach knew how I played very well, and that was one of the things that made me decide to come here. He told me that he wanted me to play inside, to play inside, from three-quarters up and to get into the box".

"I am an associative and technical player. I look for movements to find space, to turn and get into the box from the second line."

"Eibar is a very big club and from the first time I spoke to César and the manager, the feelings were very good. I really liked the project they were offering me. Eibar have been on the verge of promotion for the last two years, and I hope it's a good year…that we achieve our objective. I'm here to play in the position the coach asks me to play and to try to do my bit. I see the team doing very well, working with a lot of intensity and competitiveness. I see them already having a very good rhythm".

CÉSAR PALACIOS’ STATEMENTS

"Mario is a young midfielder from Atlético de Madrid's youth academy. These last two seasons, he has played for Deportivo, a team with great demands, and he has shown that he has the level for us to take notice of him. We are very happy that he wanted to come and has bet on us. We wish him all the luck in the world.  He is coming on loan for a year and when the season is over we will see. We hope he continues to progress with us in this category that he hasn’t yet experienced.”

"We have the same squad as last season, a competitive one. We have full confidence in it, given it has shown us in the last two seasons that we can fight for everything. We are convinced that we will do it again this season.  We have to be calm, patient and be very clear that whatever comes is for the better. Right now we have a squad more than good enough to face a demanding season".
