Magnificent strikes from Aketxe and Mario Soriano give Eibar their first win against Elche (2-1)

The Armeros reacted to Elche's penalty equaliser

Goals from Ager Aketxe in the 5th minute and Mario Soriano in the 79th minute gave Eibar their first win of the season against Elche (2-1).

The Armeros started the game on the front foot and the early goal was the result of their dominance. Following a corner kick, Tejero headed the ball to Aketxe, who fired in a left-footed shot from just outside the area.

Eibar controlled the game throughout the first half and had no trouble maintaining their lead until the break.

In the second half, Elche pushed forward and threatened the Eibar goal with more frequency, although without generating any clear cut chances.

Following an incident in the box, the referee awarded a penalty to Elche for a handball after a VAR review. Lucas Boyé converted the penalty in the 66th minute.

Joseba Etxeberria's team did not lose faith and the reward came in the 79th minute thanks to Mario Soriano's low shot from outside the box from Rahmani's pass.

Elche poured forward for the remainder of the game, including a lengthy amount of stoppage time, but Eibar held on and took their first three points of the season.
