Lombán: Eibar is a club that's on the up & I'll get to experience that from within

Speaking today at his unveiling as SD Eibar's latest signing, David Lombán insisted his new club is "on the up and I'll now get to experience that from within".

The Asturian centre-back, who has been handed shirt number 22, thanked Eibar for the "interest" they showed in securing his services. "All of the reports I'd had on Eibar were positive and that was important for me when it came to making the decision".

"From the outside looking in, you can see that this is a club that's undergoing great growth and I'll now get to experience that from within. From the outside you can see that there's a fantastic group here and that's something that draws your attention.

"It has been a long summer. After what was a pretty tough season, I wanted to switch off from football and then several options became available. When the opportunity to come to Eibar cropped up there were plenty of reasons for me to come here. There's real stability here and that's really important for a player. The stability you get from the club is passed down to the team and is evident in the results".

Club president, Amaia Gorostiza, insisted that Lombán represents "the missing piece that we needed to complete our squad". "He's the centre-back we went in for, he meets what we were looking for and what was set down by the director of football and the coach".

"He's an experienced player, who has spent four years in Primera. He comes here ready to give his all and I think that he'll be very much at home here".

The Armeros' director of football stressed that Lombán "is a player who is ready to make an instant impact and knows LaLiga well". "Two seasons ago we didn't manage to bring him here because Granada beat us to it".

"He's not a left-footed player but he adapts well to playing on the left. He comes here on the back of several seasons in Primera. We were in need of a calming influence with leadership qualities at centre-back and David offers the team just that.
