Last home game of season sees Eibar edge Las Palmas in 1-0 win

Charles's strike was enough to secure victory on an afternoon of farewells

Eibar claimed a 1-0 triumph over Las Palmas in the sides' La Liga Matchday 37 encounter as the Armeros brought the curtain down on their home campaign in the best possible fashion by recording their 14th win of the season. Charles's strike in the fifth minute was enough to separate the teams on an afternoon that saw several Eibar players bid farewell to the home faithful.

As they so often do, Eibar made a bright start to proceedings. In one their first forward forays, Charles put the hosts in front after Fabián Orellana left him with the simplest of tasks to tap the ball into an empty net. The Armeros completely dominated the opening 45 minutes and the home side came close to doubling their advantage when Charles narrowly missed the target with a powerful headed effort inside the area.

José Luis Mendilibar's men managed to hold onto their lead despite Las Palmas trying everything to haul themselves level. There were, however, to be no further goals as the Armeros went on to record their second win in as many games.
