LaLiga refuses to allow Eibar to register another player following the injury to Fran Rico

The league's Medical Committee considers that the injury "fails to satisfy the criteria relating to serious, long-term injuries"

LaLiga's Medical Committee has rejected SD Eibar's request to register an additional player in view of the long-term injury suffered by Fran Rico.

The Galician midfielder underwent surgery on 29 September to address the "significant chondropathy" on his right knee, which also involved the "liberation of adhesions from previous operations, as well as the regeneration process relating to existing injuries".

The medical report issued by the medics who conducted the surgery stated that participation in sporting activities was not recommended for a minimum period of six months.

After the surgery was carried out, Eibar made a request to register another player based on the understanding that this case satisfied the criteria stipulated by the regulations.

However, LaLiga's Medical Committee today informed the club that, "having examined and analysed the player's medical reports, the committee does not consider that the injury described in the reports satisfies the criteria of a serious, long-term injury and, as a result, the request to register a player outside of the established windows on account of a serious injury to another player has been rejected".
